Software developers often capture data into data files. Although common text processing programs, such as Windows® NotePad and WordPad, can be used to display and print out data that is pure ASCII text, they cannot handle non-printable characters. This can be important, for example, when a developer captures normally textual data from a serial port to a text file and unexpected non-text characters arrive. Text processing programs cannot show the developer what those characters are so the cause can be determined.
The retiSoft File Display/Dump Utility program allows the user to view and print the contents of any file, whether it contains pure text, "binary" data, or a combination. The key features of this program are:
The retiSoft File Display/Dump Utility works through standard Windows® printer services and therefore can output to any printer or pseudo-printer installed on your system. This includes fax programs and Adobe® Acrobat® (to create PDF files for electronic archives and distribution).
